Irwin Awards

California Distinguished School Award
Beginning in 1986, the California School Recognition Program (CSRP) gives exceptional schools and school leaders the opportunity to gather and share their model programs and practices and their special skills which have contributed to their success. There are many details that go into the eligibility and selection of these awardees.  All of the award programs recognize sustained student achievement, excellence in environmental program design, or superior job performance, and community involvement.

District Awards 

California Pivotal Practice Award
In a period when pandemic disruptions made it hard to collect data for statewide assessments, the CDE worked with education association partners to create the CAPP Award to honor the efforts of schools and districts who designed and implemented unique opportunities and strategies to support students in this most challenging time.

Cape Eureka Award
The Eureka Award for Performance Excellence™ is the top level award offered by CCE and adheres to the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria. The Eureka Award offers seven categories: Large and Small Service; Education; Health Care; Non-Profit; Government; and, Military. The award consists of a full Baldrige-based application using the most current criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

California Prospector Award
The award program, which emulates the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, recognizes companies and organizations that demonstrate continuous improvement and superior performance in several key areas including leadership, strategic planning, student learning results, budgetary and financial results, faculty and staff focus, organizational effectiveness and social responsibility.

CSBA California Golden Bell
The California School Boards Association’s Golden Bell Awards honor exemplary public school programs and governance led by districts, county offices, and boards of education. Recipients show measurable impact, equity and access, strong board leadership, and innovative practices that can be replicated statewide.
